At Sunrise Detox you can expect a safe and comfortable place to heal from your addiction.
Checking into an alcohol and drug detoxification center is for most addicts one of the most frightening times they experience. Let's face it; many addicted people have no clue as to what to expect within their first 24 hours at an alcohol or drug detox center, so here is a rough checklist of what you can expect.
When you first arrive at Sunrise Detox Center, you will go through an intake interview. This is your first meeting with a highly skilled Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Counselor will ask several very personal questions. Try to cooperate as best you can with your intake counselor, as your intake will help to stake out the course of your treatment. During your intake interview, you will be given a patient orientation handbook. Your packet will include a daily schedule of activities, information about alcohol and drug addiction and other pertinent information about your stay with us.
Following your intake assessment, we will guide you to your living quarters. Whether in a semi- private or private room expect your experience with us to be dignified and comfortable. Your belongings will be searched thoroughly for any possible contraband. Items that are not permitted or need extra safekeeping will be locked away. Patients are allowed to wear their own clothing. Laundry facilities are available for client use.
Next, you will meet your treatment team. The team will normally include a nurse, physician, therapist and case manager as well as other support staff. The same staff members will remain on your personal treatment team throughout your stay with us. Within the first 24 hours, you will undergo a full physical examination. We will also do a urinalysis and most likely blood testing to determine which drugs are currently present in your system and in what amounts. You may also be screened for tuberculosis as well as other communicable diseases. The doctor or his staff will meet with you to discuss your test results and make recommendations for medical assistance with your drug addiction problem.
Within your first few days with us, your treatment team will develop and individualized treatment plan. As important as your medical detox is, just as important is your plan of action when you leave us. We will help you develop the best after-care plan. You are the most important member of your team, so please contribute your own thoughts and opinions.
As we already have emphasized, entering detox can be a frightening experience. That's why we have done our best to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The staff has dedicated their professional life to help you in your battle against alcohol or drug addiction and will strive to make your stay as pleasant and helpful as possible.
